Jasper got an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas from her Grandparents. Do you remember those? I always wanted one when I was younger. They looked so fun, the cakes and cookies looked so tasty and the process seemed so easy.
You just add the mix (yellow cake mix shown) and water and away you stir.
Cute little things, aren't they? I mean the oven,.. although the girl is pretty cute, too. Did you know the heating unit is just a 100 watt light bulb? Weird, huh?
So, this is the part that becomes not so easy... scooping the batter into the tiny, hard to manipulate tin pan.
Believe it or not, this mess is my fault and not the 6 year old's.
I was trying to help her scoop with the dinky little baking utensils they give you, when the batter stuck to the scoop and the pan was about to tip over, I made a grab for it but dropped the mixing bowl in the process.
Right on top of the tin pan.
Which jumped up into the air.
Splattering Jasper before ending upside down on the floor...
where it left the majority of the batter.
Certainly, not enough left to make a cake out of. So much for easy baking! So, we tried again using Sugar Cookie mix this time.
Successfully mixed and formed into cookies before baking.
Too bad they STILL didn't turn out right. They spread into one big cookie blob. Which I cut into pie shapes so she could frost them.

Not a TOTAL disaster, but they didn't taste very good. Especially compared to the Sugar Cookies I made right before Christmas. Now, they were go-oood.

I totally had one of those when I was a kid! I loved it, although the mess we made was probably more of a pain for my mom than me :) I remember liking the baking process more than the eating anyways (they didn't taste grand then either). I'm sure Jasper will have fun baking stuff though since she can do it basically on her own and it'll give her yet another accomplishment to be proud of! Have fun with it!
True, true, Ang! The only problem is her inablility to do it herself, yet! We will keep working on it, though! Glad you got some good memories out of it! We already have some too, and we laughed so hard at the batter all over her head! It was funny, a mess, but funny nonetheless!
I had an easy bake as a kid. Where were you? That's funny it got all over her. At least she didn't scream! Thanks for posting this, it made me have a good laugh!
P.S. That's Bethany, not Ang. :)
Okay, I just looked at that cookie recipe and it looks good! I'm still trying to find one I lost and loved, it was a butter-filled imitation of cookies by designs recipe. Let me know if you ever find one like that.
Ha Ha! Sorry Beth,... I just realized it was you that posted and not Angie! Too many Webbers to keep track of! j/k! :D
Jack- You will have to explain those cookies to me... the description lost me! I loved these ones because I love Almond flavoring! I really liked the butter cookies I made while you and Steve were here (except I over cooked them). Remind me to tell you about the birthday cake I'm going to make... actually, maybe I will post pictures on here when the time comes!
